01.08.09-01.11.09 - Took no thyroid medication
01.12.09 - Started 30mg Armour, sublingually
02.26.09 - Increased Armour dosage to 45mg due to low Free T3 and T4
03.12.09 - Increased Armour dosage to 60mg
04.08.09 - Started swallowing Armour instead of absorbing it sublingually on doctor's orders
05.05.09 - Increased Armour dosage to 75mg
06.05.09 - Increased Armour dosage to 90mg
06.20.09 - Increased Armour dosage to 105mg
06.28.09 - Increased Armour dosage to 120mg
07.16.09 - Increased Armour dosage to 150mg
07.29.09 - Increased Armour dosage to 180mg
08.13.09 - Switched to Cynomel 25mcg to clear out RT3
08.16.09 - Increased Cynomel to 37.5mcg
08.20.09 - Increased Cynomel to 50mcg
08.22.09 - Went hyper from increasing too fast. Stopped Cynomel altogether for a few days.
08.25.09 - Started Cynomel back up at 25mcg
08.30.09 - Increased Cynomel to 31.25mcg
09.03.09 - Increased Cynomel to 37.5mcg
09.10.09 - Increased Cynomel to 43.75mcg
09.17.09 - Increased Cynomel to 50mcg
09.23.09 - Increased Cynomel to 56.25mcg
09.29.09 - Increased Cynomel to 62.5mcg
10.11.09 - Increased Cynomel to 68.75mcg
10.18.09 - Decreased Cynomel back to 56.25mcg due to temps destabilizing on 10.05 and not restabilizing even with 35mg of HC. Ferritin must still be too low to accommodate higher doses of Cynomel.
10.30.09 - Increased Cynomel to 62.5mcg
11.07.09 - Increased Cynomel to 68.75mcg
11.11.09 - Decreased Cynomel back to 62.5mcg, as the higher dose caused my temps to destabilize again.
11.14.09 - Decreased Cynomel to 50mcg as I was getting hyper symptoms and TSH was extremely low.
01.06.10 - Decreased Cynomel to 25mcg as I didn't have enough to last me until my next shipment arrived, so I had to halve my dose to make it last longer.
01.16.10 - Restored 50mcg dose as I received part of my shipment.
01.18.10 - Decreased dose to 37.5mcg due to temps destabilizing by restoring dose too fast.
01.21.10 - Increased dose back to 50mcg as temps have remained stable for the past 4 days.
01.26.10 - Increased Cynomel to 56.25mcg as latest labs and symptoms still show room for improvement.
02.02.10 - Increased Cynomel to 62.5mcg
02.12.10 - Increased Cynomel to 68.75mcg
02.17.10 - Increased Cynomel to 75mcg
02.22.10 - Decreased Cynomel to 56.25mcg because my heart rate has been high for the past 2 weeks and lowering HC/raising sea salt made no difference.
03.09.10 - Increased Cynomel to 62.5mcg
03.18.10 - Increased Cynomel to 68.75mcg
03.27.10 - Increased Cynomel to 75mcg
04.05.10 - Decreased Cynomel back to 68.75mcg as heart rate was starting to raise again and anxiety was increasing.
04.28.10 - Increased Cynomel to 75mcg
05.07.10 - Decreased Cynomel back to 68.75mcg due to high heart rate. I believe old thermometers and/or too much HC may be giving me false low temps.
08.26.10 - Decreased Cynomel to 56.25mcg and added in 1 grain of Naturethroid. Attempting to switch back to NT due to lowered basal temps, mid-cycle spotting and questionable ovulation.
08.31.10 - Lowered Cynomel by 6.25mcg due to really high heart rate (123). Will lower by another 6.25mcg tomorrow.
09.07.10 - Lowered Cynomel by 6.25mcg due to high heart rate (106). Will lower by another 6.25mcg tomorrow.

Adrenal Treatment:

04.17.09 - Started 1% HC Cream 25mg dosed as follows:
....7:30am 10mg = 1 CC
....11:30am 7.5mg = 0.75 CC
....3:30pm 5mg = 0.5 CC
....bedtime 2.5mg = 0.25 CC
04.25.09 - Increased to 30mg HC Cream dosed as follows:
....7:30am 10mg = 1 CC
....11:30am 10mg = 1 CC
....3:30pm 5mg = 0.5 CC
....bedtime 5mg = 0.5 CC
05.07.09 - Switched to Cortef from HC Cream. Dosing is the same. They seem to work the same for me, so I'll probably use a combination of cream and Cortef to make my prescription last longer.
09.13.09 - Increased to 32.5mg HC due to having trouble sleeping again. Apparently I need more HC when on T3-only medication.
09.26.09 - Added 1/4tab Florinef to my regimen due to low aldosterone/renin.
10.02.09 - Increased Florinef dosage to 1/2tab.
10.04.09 - Increased to 35mg HC because I still wasn't sleeping well.
10.07.09 - Increased Florinef dosage to 3/4 tab.
10.12.09 - Increased Florinef dosage to 1 full tab.
10.26.09 - Decreased HC back to 30mg.
10.27.09 - Increased Florinef to 1&1/4 tab.
11.12.09 - Decreased Florinef back to 1 tab due to fluid retention. I take 1/2 tab at breakfast and the other 1/2 tab at bedtime.
11.15.09 - Decreased HC to 27.5mg.
02.12.10 - Decreased HC to 25mg as heart rate has been high for several days with still hypo temps. Also not sleeping perfectly lately.
02.17.10 - Increased HC back to 27.5mg as reducing dose had no effect on heart rate.
05.11.10 - Decreased HC to 25mg due to swollen ankles and suspected lowered temps from too much HC. Perhaps it's finally time to wean?
05.21.10 - Weaned down to 22.5mg HC.
06.02.10 - Weaned down to 20mg HC.
06.05.10 - Tried weaning down to 17.5mg HC, but didn't sleep well. Also not feeling as well since weaning below 22.5mg. Could be from weaning or from the B vitamin I tried adding back in.
06.06.10 - Went back up to 22.5mg HC to see if I sleep/feel better.
06.10.10 - Slept better for a couple of days, but then slept crappy again. Also still not feeling any better. So went back up to 25mg.
06.15.10 - Decreased down to 22.5mg again due to swollen ankles.
06.30.10 - Decreased HC to 20mg due to swollen ankles and unexplained bruising.
07.11.10 - Decreased HC to 17.5mg due to slightly swollen ankles and moodiness.
07.13.10 - Increased HC back to 20mg due to sleep problems.
07.18.10 - Increased HC to 22.5mg due to continued sleep problems. I think I may have exhausted my reserves as my ankles are not swollen at all.
07.19.10 - Added in 450mg Licorice Root with breakfast.
07.23.10 - Discontinued Licorice Root as it did not help sleep and made me fatigued.
07.27.10 - Decreased HC to 20mg again. Sleeping better the past few nights and had slightly swollen ankles a couple times.
08.02.10 - Decreased HC to 17.5mg.
08.09.10 - Decreased HC to 15mg. Tomorrow I will also decrease Florinef by 1/4 tab.
08.17.10 - Decreased HC to 12.5mg.
08.22.10 - Decreased Florinef by 1/4 tab.
08.27.10 - Decreased HC to 10mg.
09.01.10 - Decreased HC to 7.5mg.
09.06.10 - Decreased Florinef by 1/4tab. Now only taking 1/4 tab in the morning.

Health/Stress History:

10/1979 - I was born
12/20/79-12/24/79 - Hospitalized with bronchitis and pneumonia
5/5/80-5/8/80 - Hospitalized again for bronchitis and pneumonia
12/22/82-1/7/83 - Viral pneumonia
1985 - Had my tonsils surgically removed and had tubes put in my ears due to recurring strep throat and ear infections
1986 or 87 - Had a hairy nevus/birthmark, which was growing in size, surgically removed from my back (shoulder blade area)
1987 or 88 - Fell several feet from the top of a slide onto the ground, landing on my head, giving me a concussion
1988 or 89 - Looking back at pictures, etc, my appearance and personality changed a bit around this time. I gained a bit of weight and stayed chubby throughout elementary, middle and high school.
1991 - Parents divorced
1992 - Got my first period on my 13th birthday
1994 - Periods started occurring every 2 weeks, acne got so bad that I took Accutane to get rid of it. Throat started getting "gunky" around this time as well, which still bothers me.
1995 - Started taking birth control to regulate my periods
1997 - Acne came back, so I took a second round of Accutane
2000 - Got the Depo Provera shot, which caused me to spot constantly and spurred depression. Started taking Zoloft, and tried several other AD's that year, then finally quit them.
2001 - Moved out on my own.
2003 - Went through a very hard breakup, then moved to Florida from the Carolinas. Started feeling run down and crappy soon after the move. I thought it was allergies, so I started getting allergy shots.
2003-2006 - Got sick with sinus infections all the time. Saw several doctors, none of which helped me.
2004-2006 - Went through a hellish relationship with a psycho who ended up stalking me. Moved 5 times.
2005 - Got whiplash from a fender bender.
2006 - Got diagnosed with ADHD, PCOS and TOS (due to an extra pair of cervical ribs). ADHD medication made me almost pass out, so refused medication for it. Also had another fender bender, again irritating the whiplash.
11/2006 - Had plastic surgery, including a chin implant and light liposuction on my neck/face. This is an area I could never lose weight in, no matter how much I dieted/exercised.
2/2007 - Moved back to the Carolinas to get away from the psycho stalker.
6/2007 - Met my (now) husband.
10/2007 - Moved in with my (now) husband.
3/2008 - Switched to Yasmin birth control.
4/2008 - We moved again.
5/2008 - Got married.
3-8/2008 - Never got sick, but did have hypoglycemic symptoms.
8/2008 - Switched back to Desogen birth control and hypoglycemic symptoms went away. Diagnosed with Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism, but endo refused to treat. Got another sinus infection. I now knew they had a hormonal cause. Switched to Cyclessa birth control.
9/2008 - Started feeling really horrible. Extreme cold intolerance, leg/knee pain, fatigue, apathy and neuropathy. Started reading about hypothyroidism and recognized that my frequent periods were a hypoT symptom, not a PCOS symptom...thus I'd had thyroid issues since the age of 15, at least.
10/2008 - TSH finally went above "normal" and I was started on 50mcg Levoxyl. Went off birth control. Had a normal menstrual cycle and ovulated for the first time in 13 years.
11/2008 - After 6 weeks, my hypo symptoms got worse again, so my GP increased me to 75mcg Levoxyl.
12/2008 - Fatigue and brain fog got so bad that I opted to quit my job. I knew that I was nowhere near healthy enough to support a pregnancy, so I decided to give myself the time off to get my health/life in order.
1/2009 - Went hyper, with symptoms much like that of hypo - only difference was neck and tooth pain. Got off Levoxyl totally for 4 days, then started 1/2 grain Armour. Already feeling worlds better, but the neck and tooth pain have not yet subsided.
2/2009 - Got rid of neck pain with the help of a chiropractor. Tooth pain never did go away - I think there's something wrong with the tooth. Retest shows me still very hypo, so I'm increasing my Armour dosage.
3/2009 - Saliva test results indicate adrenal fatigue. I will be seeking treatment for that condition.
4/2009 - So far unable to find a doctor who knows anything about adrenal fatigue. I have decided to start self-treating with HC Cream for the time being. I am still seeking a doctor who knows what they're doing.
5/2009 - Finally found a doctor who seems to GET IT!! Received a prescription for Cortef. Also received a script for a higher dose of Armour. Found a wheat sensitivity, so am taking it out of my diet. Also started on a few more supplements. Hopeful!
6/2009 - Doctor found parasites (intestinal fluke and protozoa) through muscle testing, so started treating those with vibropathic supplements and detox baths.
7/2009 - Asked doctor to run new labs. I have high RT3, but he would not prescribe Cytomel, so I will be self-treating that condition. Sex hormones are all out of whack, but he wouldn't treat those either. I have started progesterone cream and DHEA on my own. Iron is high, so I hope to retest soon and donate blood if it stays high.
8/2009 - Went ahead and donated blood. Stopped all supplements that contained iron. Increased DHEA to 10mg. Progesterone cream helped luteal phase length and PMS, but did not help premenstrual spotting. Will resume HCG injections to fix estrogen/progesterone issues.

Family Health History:

Mother has Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and is on Synthroid.
Uncle on mother's side also has Hashimoto's Thyroiditis - unknown whether or not he is treating it.
Brother has TPO Ab present (27.6 (range 0.0 - 60.0)), but no symptoms.
High cholesterol is common on both sides of my family.

Might I be so nosy as to ask how the docs came to the conclusion that you had PCOS??

That was one of my earliest diagnoses too and I don't have the bloodwork to support it, but that has caused a lingering fear that maybe I do have it??

Of course! I was diagnosed by pelvic ultrasound and symptoms. The pelvic ultrasound results were as follows:

----------------------

The uterus measures approximately 7.9 x 3.7 x 4.8 cm. The endometrial stripe is approximately 4 mm in thickness.

The right ovary measures 2.6 x 1.5 x 11.2 cm and the left ovary measures 4.4 x 2.2 x 3.2 cm. There are three small cysts in the left ovary with a few internal echoes measuring 1.9, 0.8 and 1.2 cm. These are most compatible with small complicated cysts. There are a few tiny subcentimeter simple follicles in the right ovary also noted.

There are no adnexal masses or free fluid.

----------------------

That was one of my earliest diagnoses too and I don't have the bloodwork to support it, but that has caused a lingering fear that maybe I do have it??

My bloodwork couldn't support it because I was on birth control at the time. I haven't yet had my hormones retested since being off BC, but hopefully I'll have those results soon. You don't have to have supporting bloodwork to confirm a PCOS diagnosis though. You only need 2 of the 3 (presence of cysts, bloodwork or symptoms).

CherryCola, if you're still around, I wanted to let you know that my sex hormones have been tested three times now since coming off birth control and they do NOT support the PCOS diagnosis. In fact, the doctor I saw last week doesn't think I have it and is sending me in for another pelvic ultrasound. Will let you know the results!
